idmers: Since I was the one who started this whole Laika thing, I guess I should post myown review of the LP. Laika's THE SOUNDS OF SATELLITES is a great album, but unfortunately not as good as the debut. SILVER APPLES OF THE MOON had more rough edges (sometimes too rough) that made it more challenging and interestingg. The sporadic (often Black Dog-ish) percussion is toned down on the new one, leaving more calm analogue-synth melodies and mutated trip-hop in its place. In fact Margaret, Guy & co. sound alot more like Pram than they did before. IDMers may like this one better though than the indie crews. Just my 2 cents! I have no objection to idm-ish rock bands being discussed on here, but I think there's a huge difference between bands that uncreatively rip-off dance music (ie U2) and people who tried to do new things with it (Eno-era Bowie, Curve, Laika etc). Again, just my 2 cents :) -Mike
